Cephalexin (Keflex)
Cephalexin is first-generation cephalosporin inhibiting bacterial growth by bacterial
inhibition of cell wall synthesis. The agent is bactericidal as well as is much effective against
rapid growing organisms that form cell walls. This drug is an acceptable alternative to
penicillin as well as would be helpful in patients having minor penicillin allergies.
