Codeine/acetaminophen
Codeine/acetaminophen can be used for moderate to mild pain treatment.
Acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitratrate (Norco, Zydone, Lortab, Vicodin ES). This
combination will be used for reliving severe to moderate pain.
Acetaminophen and oxycodone (Magnacet, Roxicet, Endocet, Percocet)
This combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone can be used for relieving severe to
moderate pain. It’s DOC for patients who are aspirin-hypersensitive.
Aspirin (Ecotrin, Aspirtab, Bayer Aspirin, Ascriptin regular strength)
Aspirin can block action of prostaglandin synthetase that in turn will inhibit synthesis of
prostaglandin as well as prevents formation of the platelet-aggregating thromboxane A2; this
will act on hypothalamic heat-regulating centre for reducing fever.
Ibuprofen (dispel, caldolor, motrin, advil, addaprin)
Usually Ibuprofen is DOC for treatment of moderate to mild pain, in case no
contraindications are there. It is among those few NSAIDs that are indicated for reduction of
fever.
Naproxen (anaprox, Naprelan, Aleve, Naprosyn)
Naproxen is utilised for relieving moderate to mild pain. This inhibits inflammatory reactions
as well as pain as it decreases COX activity that results in reduced prostaglandin synthesis.
